A diet for living to 100 ☼ Shoot photos on film ☼ Next-level camping in Japan

Dear internet friends,
Remember that 1970s camera my lovely partner Alyssa gifted to me that I’ve been banging on about? The Bronica ETRS? Well I finally got a bunch of rolls developed, and they came out a lot better than I was expecting…

If you want to see more as I post them, you’re most welcome to follow my personal Instagram.
I shot these on Kodak Gold 200 film with whatever settings the Lightmate app told me to use.
Shooting film is probably the most rewarding hobby I have, and it’s not even remotely difficult to get started. I have this little excited feeling inside me from the moment I shoot the first shot on a roll, to the moment the photos arrive back from the lab (usually via Dropbox link). You can pick up a point & shoot 35mm camera for ~$50 on eBay, at your local used camera store or at a thrift store. Get one with a flash. The only catch is that film is getting pricey, so there’s that. Find a lab near where you live that you can post or drop-off your film with and have them. Or go one step further and learn how to develop film at home, I’ll be diving head-first into that in the coming weeks… looks easy-ish?
Thanks for coming to my TED talk!
Onto this weeks links…

☼ I thoroughly enjoyed the Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones show on Netflix. The series explores common lifestyle themes among inhabitants of 'Blue Zones' – a handful of places renowned for their unusually high percentage of centenarians (people who live to 100). The creator, Dan Buettner, also wrote a cookbook featuring recipes he learnt from locals in each of the locations which use ingredients and cooking methods proven to increase longevity, wellness, and mental health. I’ve already started building out a weekly meal planner, I’ll share it here at some point
