Dear internet friends,
I’m straight into the links this week (because there’s a lot of them) but I just wanted to say hi, and that I hope you’re having a really great weekend. Don’t forget to take a little time for yourself.
Much love,
Marty
☼ I’ve just realised that one of my favourite artists, Hayden Clay sells both super affordable prints and limited edition prints of his mesmerising pieces.

Ultra summer artworks by Haydey Clay
☼ Rapper Lupe Fiasco teamed up with Google to create TextFX: “AI-powered tools for rappers, writers and wordsmiths”. Now I’m blasting Kick Push all weekend 🛹🛹🛹.
☼ UK pre-fab home/cabin companies Koto and Out of the Valley have teamed up to create a beautiful, minimal £45k (~$56k) outdoor sauna. Koto also make a wood burning hot tub. I’m all about these modular builds where you can expand and add on to your home/cabin over time. Also love this one by Stockholm’s Manta North (get ready to lose some time on their home configurator).

Pre-fab dreams: Koto's Sauna & Manta North's Slope home
☼ Thailand’s homemade rocket festival is extremely cool and almost definitely worth any injuries sustained while attending the event. Should we all just go next year?
☼ This YouTube channel, Great Big Story, is worthy of a subscribe. Some other bangers: The Michelangelo of Microsoft Excel, Pounding Mochi With the Fastest Mochi Maker in Japan & This German Castle Has Been One Family’s Home for 850 Years.
☼ Just in case you haven’t seen the greatest movie scene of all time…
Reserved with utmost care for the most discerning followers of leisure...
☼ Another week another perfect tiny home surrounded by nature, built with a ~$90k budget on placed on leased farmland. I love this approach of building a cost effective tiny home and finding a friendly farmer or landowner who’ll rent you a plot of land to sit it on. The key seems to be building a structure which can be moved if required in future; I believe this also helps with zoning/planning permissions in a number of countries. Have any of you or your friends done this? Would love to hear about it in the comments

☼ Useful Books provides the knowledge, community, and tools to help you write great nonfiction
☼ Phaidon’s new monograph The Atlas of Car Design: The World’s Most Iconic Cars chronicles 130 years of automotive art

☼ I’m really enjoying following Hans Lorei on Twitter who gives thoughtful interior design tips & ideas (like this, this and this)
☼ Discover Chair1987: a single, beautiful chair assembled using Japan's traditional woodworking method and without the use of metal fittings or plastics. The best part? You build it youself: “We firmly believe that the act of creation adds an inherent value to the product that cannot be matched by a piece of assembled furniture”
☼ Ever felt the sudden urge to purchase a tiny vintage computer? Well great news, Miniatua creates extremely detailed scale models and replicas of vintage computers and mainframes. I think we may need to discuss commissioning a tiny clear Macintosh Portable M5120 which plays Poolsuite FM…?

☼ On the subject of clear Apple products… this guy on YouTube 3D printed his own transparent AirPods case (full guide on his site if you’re up for the challenge)
☼ Honestly I don’t know what this site is but I’m 100% here for the chaos… (see also: Lings Cars)
☼ Cars are banned in this Swiss town! (Except tiny electric ones)
☼ I can’t recall if I’ve written about this before, but it’s worth featuring again if I did… Ca’n Terra is the result of a family stumbling upon an abandoned quarry in Menorca, then having the absolutely excellent idea to turn it into a holiday home. Take a tour here.

Until next time!
See you online ☼
