☼ After having the great fortune to spend a few weeks in Kyoto both this and last year, Alyssa & I have firmly come to the conclusion that it's our favourite place in the world. The sun’s out this week and everyone’s having picnics by the river that flows through the middle of town. Everywhere you look feels like a frame from a quaint anime movie. Kyoto has some kind of magic in that it’s unmistakably a city, but it’s as if someone turned the volume down by 50%. The pace is softer. Quieter. We ride our bikes around the empty streets every night, hopping from ramen spots to izakayas. I see perfectly restored vintage Porsche 911s and ‘80s Land Cruisers driving by daily. It’s perfect. We can’t stop dreaming about owning a home here some day. Imagine living here? Or here?

☼ I'm going to have to buy this stackable magazine stool to store all the ‘80s 'Summer Boy' Popeye Magazine editions I’ve bought out here.
☼ The most beautiful 5 minute video I've watched this year: A filmmaker discovers his late uncle's treasure trove of Super 8 footage & postcards from a trip through South Asia in the early '80s.
☼ “We named this new turntable after the firefly because it illuminates the air with a similar magical glow, inviting listeners to soak up the fleeting experience.” The new Hotaru turntable makes your vinyl look like it's floating mid-air. The catch? It's $10k and there's only 1,000 available.

☼ I felt really inspired reading this story about Chef, Okay Inak. LA’s financial landscape for restaurants is incredibly challenging, so he decided to open SORA and hire himself as the only employee. It’s a great reminder that you can achieve seemingly impossible goals by doing things a bit differently. I loved the book Company of One by Paul Jarvis which feels relevant. And Essentialism by George Mckeown, a full PDF of which happens to appear on page one of Google...
☼ I'm feeling the catchily named G5600BG-5 G-Shock watch from Casio that's made from resin left over from the manufacture of components from their other watches.

☼ Ask Nature is a free online tool where you can search thousands of nature's solutions to various societal challenges. Like how dolphins develop friendships in their early years to help them throughout their lives, or how chimpanzees pass on knowledge to the next generation.
☼ This book interviews people who own the many vintage Jeeps, Defenders and FJ’s off the coast of Cape Cod.

☼ For your summer style inspiration, look no further than this collection of Jackie Chan in short-shorts.
☼ In the early 2000s, this dad took photos of his kid playing his Game Boy in historic locations around the world.
☼ What if you spent the summer in this sun-lit guesthouse in Fiesole, Italy and wrote a journal?
