Our Miami lineup ☼ Visit famous artists' studios ☼ The best 35mm cameras to buy

Dearest internet friends,
Welcome to this week’s instalment of what’s hot in life & leisure.
Quick note: As we prepare to release Poolsuite version 3.0 out into the world, we've moved this newsletter off Substack. More info soon, but we want to be able to offer much more than just an extended newsletter to our premium members. Regardless if you pay monthly or not, you shouldn't need to do anything on your end. Do let us know if you see anything strange though.
Much love ☼
Marty

☼ We just announced the line-up for our blow-out Poolsuite & Vacation® "End of Financial Year" Corporate Disco on Saturday Dec 7 in Miami during this year's Art Basel festivities. It's our biggest event yet by far – I hope to see a bunch of you there!

We're flying in...
- Dabeull (meet the French funk phenom)
- Breakbot & Irfane (of Baby I'm Yours fame)
- Yasmin (catch her recent vinyl set for My Analog Journal)
With more artist announcements to come!
Premium subscribers who plan to attend, please read to the end of this issue...
☼ An extremely rare opportunity to visit the studios of Jeff Koons, Vera Lutter, Tschabalala Self and more. 100% of proceeds go towards nurturing fresh talent in the art world. Sale goes live on November 9th.
☼ If you're getting married soon, please, please arrange an '80s Hong Kong inspired 'pre wedding' shoot: "a photography style that's supposed to emphasize the authenticity and rawness of marriage"

☼ Currently daydreaming about this light-filled Victorian mews house in London. For a cool £1.2+ million, it could be yours.
☼ “We’re taking what’s traditionally remained in museums and car shows and making it available for everyday life as a road-legal vehicle… carrying forward that same spirit of celebrating the good life” Important car news: Bertone are reimagining the classic Autobianchi A112 Runabout from 1969. The original design was inspired by racing boats of the mid-60s and it shows! Want a closer look? Enjoy this vintage ad by Bertone.

The original vs the remake
☼ Behold this 180° swivel digital camera from 2004. Please someone buy it and tell us how it goes.

☼ What’s stopping you from painting elaborate frescoes on the walls of your rented studio apartment? See: this “small but exquisitely decorated” home that was recently excavated in Pompeii.
☼ If you've been thinking about picking up a 35mm camera, I've been doing plenty of research and I'm about to order either a Fujfilm Tiara II or a Konica Big Mini BM-201. You should be able to grab either on eBay for <$200 from Japan in good condition. They're both super compact, take beautiful shots and only require you to press the shutter button - zero photography knowledge required. I also recommend grabbing some Kodak Gold film if you want a warm, nostalgic, summery feel to your shots. Here's some sample shots from both cameras (hot tip - Lomography has a directory featuring sample photos from almost any film camera you can find)

Fujifilm Tiara II & the Konica Big Mini BM-201
☼ If you have ~12 minutes to spare this week, watch this wonderful documentary about spiritual sauna rituals in Estonia.
☼ I love everything about Dorothée Meilichzon’s design of the Regina Experimental Hotel in Biarritz, but especially the lobby. Tell me that’s not a page from an '80s interiors magazine.

The lobby looks like a collection of miniature lounges
☼ Add these five Golden Age films that inspired Korean cinema’s new wave to your watch list.
☼ Film photos of exceptionally well-dressed people on English beaches in the 1960s
☼ Need ambient lighting that doubles as a gluten-free snack?* Get yourself one of these pastel-hued lamps that are 3D printed using a biodegradable plastic made from cornstarch. *Don't actually try to eat it please

☼ It's Nice That just dropped their 2024 gift guide made up of products by independent creatives
☼ Need a lil break from receiving 500 notifications an hour? Here's a report on the best dumb phones of 2024 from Jose Briones who runs the Moving Offline newsletter. He has a bunch of great posts about living a life less connected.
☼ TremeEats are hosting incredible IRL experiences in Greece, Cyprus and beyond. I can’t stop looking at this stunning dinner party they held in a marble quarry near Athens.

If I could teleport back in time to know about this event in advance, I would be in these images
☼ Lastly, if you'd like to come to our aforementioned Miami soirée on Saturday Dec 7, and you're a Premium subscriber or Poolsuite 'Executive Member' NFT holder (which I assume you are if you're reading this) you can reply to this email and we'll hook you up with discounted tickets & make sure you can skip the line to get in.
Until next time!
See you online ☼
