What I’m over optimistically hoping Ocean Drive will look like in Miami next week

Dearest internet friends,

Welcome to this week’s instalment of what’s hot in life & leisure.

First things first – are you going to Art Basel Miami this year? We’re throwing an all-out-disco party next Saturday, 9th December!

At the wonderful new outdoor entertainment space ZeyZey, we’ve got an exceptional line-up for you, and of course, free gifts from Vacation® for all attendees.

If you can’t make it, please do share with any friends who will be in Miami!

Much love! ☼

☼ Over at Vacation®, we’ve just announced that we’re bringing back the legendary Orange Gelee sunscreen, made famous by the likes of Coco Chanel & the jet set crowd of the French Riviera. The St Tropez tan is back! The product built a cult following since its release in 1925, but was sadly discontinued a few years ago, to the dismay of thousands of loyal fans worldwide, which caused individual tubes to sell for over $350 on eBay & Etsy. Join us on our journey as we work alongside our orange gelée advisory board (consisting of lifelong fans of the product and modern beauty experts) to bring back a revived version of the beloved product by summer 2024.

☼ Artist Julienne Berthier’s boat/art piece ‘Love, Love’ appears to be perpetually sinking, despite being a fully operational vessel.

☼ Apartamento’s latest book delves into the eccentric Portlligat home of Salvador Dali with wonderful photography by Coco Capitán (I bought it, it’s great). It has me thinking… should we be attempting to acquire a traditional European manor house as Poolsuite’s home base, or something a bit more wild?

☼ Do you feel like your life is on the default path? Whereby you’ve done everything that’s expected of you, you’re climbing the corporate ladder, but feel like something’s missing? Then the Pathless Path book/audiobook may be for you. The author, Paul Millerd, has a podcast of the same name that’s probably great too.

☼ Dream of ice cream with Crème Atelier’s Soft Serve lamp by your bed.

Hand picked with the utmost care exclusively for the most fervent leisure enthusiasts…

☼ A stunning 2:30 film to make you want to give it all up & move to rural Spain: “Their memories embedded in our minds, and awakened by something as unassuming as a smell, or a distant tune, there are summers that come to feel endless…”

☼ Here’s how to DIY a lens for a digital camera to make it shoot like a disposable 35mm camera – AKA my dream camera setup. Pair this with any Fujifilm camera with film simulation presets and this could be the best way to shoot authentic looking film images without going bankrupt by actually shooting film in 2023. I picked a pre-made 3D printed version of this up on Etsy from this store (currently stuck in customs otherwise I’d give a review).

☼ Take a virtual trip to the Mobile Phone Museum and discover the groundbreaking devices of yesteryear. Honestly when I look back at some of Nokia’s wilder creations I feel sad about the levels of chaotic hardware innovation that Apple seemingly wiped out (I’m looking at you, Nokia 7600). Honestly if BlackBerry came back out with a physical QWERTY keyboard device with a camera that shoots photos like a 35mm disposable you’d find me camping outside a store in a lil tent to get my hands one. ☼ London restaurant chain BAO teamed up with British knife brand Allday Goods to create this bao bun inspired knife made from the restaurant’s recycled plastic. A perfect collab! Also, is this the most beautiful knife you’ve ever seen?

☼ The Nikkei NKN-18 is an 18sqm “micro hotel suite” that I desperately want to place in the middle of a forest back home in the Scottish Highlands. Maybe we can make a lil village of them? This home in Japan is further fuelling fantasies of a house in the woods…

☼ It feels quite magical that this kind of beauty just naturally washes up on the beaches of Hawaii.

☼ A calming short video I stumbled upon documenting the beautiful restoration of an 18th century farm in South Africa.

☼ Industrial designer Lea Lorenz has introduced Tony, a groundbreaking portable & electricity-free refrigerator & food storage system that draws its innovative concept from the time-honoured practice of using clay pots for preserving fruits and vegetables.

Until next time!

See you online ☼
