Dearest internet friends,

☼ I cannot stop thinking about this project… In 2021, New Zealand couple Frank Stark and Emma Bugden purchased a pool derelict public swimming pool (and adjacent hall and fire station), before bringing on Patchwork Architecture to transform it into a truly iconic home for their family. And yes, I absolutely am scouring Google Maps for every abandoned public pool in Europe right now.

☼ In 1983, Steve Jobs flipped the bird to IBM outside their NYC HQ. Now, you can bid on the leather bomber jacket he was wearing that day“In December 1983, a few weeks before the Mac launch, we made a quick trip to New York City to meet with Newsweek, who was considering doing a cover story on the Mac. The photo was taken spontaneously as we walked around Manhattan by Jean Pigozzi, a wild French jet setter who was hanging out with us at the time” – Andy Hertzfeld

☼ My good friend Scott recently launched his own podcast, At Large, which I think a lot of you will enjoy: “At Large explores the many ways the creatives that have shaped our world navigate business and use commerce to scale their craft.” I especially enjoyed his episode #5 with Danielle Baskin titled titled Striking Internet Gold – I’ve been a fan of her eclectic online adventures for years.

☼ Not safe for work: Summer, as seen by 23 exceptionally good photographers.

Hand picked with the utmost care exclusively for the most fervent leisure enthusiasts…

☼ Three genius Dutch women are creating up-cycled tabletops designed to seamlessly fit onto Amsterdam's iconic 18th-century "Amsterdammertje" bollards. With 38,000 bollards in the city to choose from, you can easily locate the ideal spot for an impromptu wine & stroopwafel date by the canal.

☼ My favourite app on my phone, Endel, which offers endless ambient soundscapes to help you relax, concentrate, sleep, and more, just released a Focus Timer which blocks distracting apps on your phone while you get in the zone & get shit done, or when you just want to be more present. They also just released new features to help those with ADHD, like coloured noise. I hope this app outlives me, I love it that much.

☼ How creatively nutritious is your internet feed? Get to know the Tiny Awards, celebrating the internet’s independent creators.

☼ A beautiful desk by designer Liam de la Bedoyere.

☼ Inspired by perfect pieces of Japanese fruit, Joseph Töreki’s hyperreal renders will make your mouth water (and are making me look at flights to Japan)

☼ In the market for a new toolbox? I’ve sooooo got you (via Emily)

☼ During my amateur audiophile journeys across the internet, I’ve noticed a resurgence in audio enthusiasts buying CDs over vinyl. Partly because they offer superior audio quality, and secondly, and partly because you don’t have to sell a kidney to start building a collection. On that note, PHILE Rehousing have introduced PHILE CD, a sleeve designed to rekindle enthusiasm for CDs and elevate their status alongside vinyl.

☼ Italy’s most romantic trail, the ‘Path of Love’ on the Cinque Terre just reopened after 12 years

☼ Did one of you just buy this mint green Ferrari F40 for $1.9m? God I hope so.

☼ Insanely cool: The Straight 8 film competition, now celebrating its 25th year: “Just one roll of super 8 film, no retakes, no editing, no post production… oh and a soundtrack (that you make blind), that they line up with your first frame. The first time you see your film, if it’s selected, is when the audience does.” Adding entering this to my bucket list.

Until next time!

See you online ☼
