We're Back! ☼ Diplo's Jungle Paradise ☼ A Perfect Mixtape

Dearest internet friends,
We’re back!
Sincere apologies for the recent disruption in our regularly scheduled programming. What started as a simple negotiation to acquire a small banana plantation off the coast of Portugal quickly escalated into a high-speed, weeks-long jet-ski pursuit by the Madeiran mafia. While I escaped in one piece, the banana plantation slipped through my fingers. Back to the drawing board.
Anyway, welcome to this week’s instalment of what’s hot in life & leisure!
With love ☼

☼ Take a step inside design duo Soft-Geometry’s San Francisco studio which looks like a lovely place to create lovely products. Dreaming daily of a physical Poolsuite HQ here in Portugal…

☼ I recently learned of this city in Africa with iconic architecture reminiscent of Italy in the 1940s: “An eccentric emblem of Modernist design”
☼ Evolution Music have created plant-based vinyl records which replace PVC with sugarcane bioplastics for completely compostable records.
☼ Diplo’s Jamaican jungle paradise is about as wild as you might imagine…
☼ We’ve launched a bunch of new products at Vacation® (including our much-hyped Orange Gelée) plus you can now find us nationwide at both Target & Ulta!
☼ For the first time in my life, I’m feeling a deep desire to spend less time on a computer, with the recurring thought bouncing around in my brain: maybe it’s like a really really bad idea to squander 8 of my finite hours on planet earth every day sat staring into a screen? So I’m being very selective in where I spend my time online (goodbye Twitter). An example of a purposeful, thoughtful internet space that I feel great about spending my time is Sublime, the project of my wise friends Sari & Gabriel - here’s an intro to it and some things about life I’ve saved.

☼ I don’t read the news, but I do love to keep up to date with what’s happening in art & culture. I use Inoreader (an RSS reader website/app) with a bunch of publications I love added to my feeds across different topics - like art, fashion, travel, housing, etc. I also have newsletters go to Inoreader as I typically don’t read them when they land in my inbox alongside everything else.
☼ I’m finding myself on Logo Archive a lot recently, it’s one of the most comprehensive reference tools around for those creating brands. Their Instagram account is a great follow.

☼ It’s five years old, but I loooove this mixtape from Breakbot. I really wish we recorded his set at our ‘22 soirée in London. Shout out any of you who saw it live!
☼ I simply cannot stop working until I have the same music setup in my home as the one in Unkompress cafe in Berlin.

☼ This camera lens cap has a hidden compartment for storing an AirTag or SD cards. As someone who recently had their prized Contax T2 stolen (at our Poolsuite x Ralph Lauren event no less) I’m very much open to ideas that make my cameras easier to find.
☼ Instant purchase: The Package Holiday 1968 - 1985 photo book from Hoxton Mini Press. “Factor two sunscreen, brightly-coloured Speedos and duty-free cigarettes by the pool: the pleasure of the early package holiday are captured in this collection of technicolour photographs of the British abroad”

☼ I kinda want this minimal e-ink phone with physical keyboard (note: it’s crowd-funded and may never materialise…).
☼ Summer reads: ten new books to read by the pool (I’ll add Last Summer in the City to the list).

Until next time!
See you online ☼
